This has been a really good week so far. One of my good friends from church, Leah, absolutely made my day on Monday morning. At around 9:30 a.m. the door to my classroom opened, and my first thought was, "Wait, I didn't tell anyone they could go to the bathroom! Who is this?" And in walked Leah and her adorable daughter with a yummy Starbucks drink for me! Talk about a great surprise. What is better than enjoying a Starbucks you didn't know you were going to have?! Nothing. Leah was a teacher, so she knows how much little things like that matter in a day for a teacher.
On Tuesday night, David and I cooked dinner for our friends Jay and Katherine Thorpe! The Thorpes came over to celebrate Katherine's 26th birthday (even though it was last week). It was nice to enjoy some mid-week socializing with them.
As some of you may know, the Razorbacks play Alabama this weekend. We've been nervous all week. This is no small game, and it will be no small challenge to beat them. This week David and I remembered a funny "candid radio" that Craig O'Neil did one time. For those of you who don't know, Craig O'Neil was a Little Rock DJ that would prank call schools the week before the game. This candid call is pretty appropriate for this upcoming game. This call took place maybe 15 years ago? I hope my link works and I hope you find it as funny as we do.
I haven't really recorded any funny things that the kids in my class have been saying to me, so I thought I might let you in on some stuff. This is quite a funny group.
Boy: "Mrs. Rainwater?"
Me: "Yes?"
Boy: "I have pit sweat because I'm not allowed to wear deoderant yet."
Me: "Oh man."
Girl: "Mrs. Rainwater?"
Me: "Yes"
Girl: "Can you pray for my brother? He has really bad allergies and the skin on his leg is about to fall off."
A boy brought me a self-portrait, and in it, he was smoking...
Me: "Paul, what is this?" (pointing to the cigarette)
Paul: "Is my guy smoking?"
Me: "I don't know Paul. Didn't you draw this picture? Did you draw yourself smoking?"
Paul: "I'm not sure."
Girl: "Mrs. Rainwater, there is a frog right outside. Can I bring him inside and keep him in my lunch box?"
Me: "No."
Girl: "Are you serious?"
Me: "Yes. You can't bring a frog inside."
Girl: "Wow."
So those are just a few of the things I hear on a daily basis. Happy Thursday!
