I sit in an empty house with no pets! I miss my little guys walking around and driving me crazy. Tonight, David and I are leaving to meet his family in Branson so I took Deuce and Sooie to the vet to stay for the weekend. It's only the second time for Deuce stay at the vet, and my reaction was better than the last time (you may remember that I cried at Christmas), but I still teared up. Oh well...I love my animals. I've gotten everything ready to go, so I'm just waiting for David to get back from his last day in Topeka!
Because I went up to my classroom last week in the mornings, I really haven't had too much to do this week on my week off. I've gone up a couple times, but I've spent most of my time trying to get nice and bored. That may sound weird, but when I don't have much going on, I tend to try and find something to do...idleness is not my favorite. :) But when things get busy, I always wish I could sit around for just a little bit! So I'm embracing boredom right now so that when this school year sets in and we're going non-stop, I can look back on how great it was to sit around this week. It could be backwards thinking, but it's working for me right now.
How about another installment of "think-back Thursday"?! I know, you thought it might be a one time thing (and it may end up being a two-time thing), but like I said, I've got the time today so here we go! Let's think back about elementary "crazes." These are the things that everyone LOVED, and then all the sudden, they were gone! Maybe you didn't have these and I'm just weird, but I really had some things I was into as a teeny bopper.
1. Pogs!--I don't even remember how to play this game, but I loved my pogs! I used to bring them to school in this Pringles can case thing! Whenever we had inside recess we could pull them out and play and trade them. What a completely pointless little game that was!
2. Beanie Babies--Now I know that other people had beanie babies. I had TONS. I even sold the democratic donkey and republican elephant to this guy as a set for $500 in like 4th grade. I think the rest of my extensive collection is in a huge tub in my parent's attic. Too bad they're worth less than they even were then!
3. Beads--I was obsessed with beads and making necklaces, bracelets, ankle bracelets etc. I had two huge bead boxes that I would bring to school and look at on the playground. I swear I had friends. :) In fact, one of my friends and I set up a "bead stand" at the bottom of our hill and sold the "beautiful jewelry" that we had made. Our kind neighbors spent their hard-earned money buying VERY worthless, hand-made necklaces. I should sent them all thank-you notes for making me feel good about my beadworking skills!
Thanks for reading friends!
