Peaches, Pigs and PhDs

Atlanta was so fun! The picture up top is from the Georgia Tech campus. Ben gave us a great tour the night that we flew in and we walked all over the entire campus. We even saw his office and the lab that he will be working in. Ben is getting his PhD in Mechanical Science and we are so proud. After a late bed time on Friday night we got up Saturday and were lucky enough to go to the Arkansas/Georgia game in Athens.

I've never been to a true Arkansas away game and couldn't wait. We drove to Athens with Ben and cheered when we saw random Arkansas fans. Nothing unites total strangers by being in a strange city while being the few people there that are rooting for the same team. We were on the second to top row in the highest section. The nosebleed section, but I could finally see great and see over everyone's heads. :) If you can't tell from David's shirt, it was HOT.

Up here in Kansas City we're trudging right along into fall, but down South they're still sweating out summer. We loved it though. The Razorbacks (ranked 12th) did beat Georgia and it turned into a super close game. We were two touchdowns ahead until the very end and Georgia tied it up. Miraculously we scored in the last 30 seconds of play and the small Razorback section went nuts! It's pretty easy to leave a stadium with your head held high when you're victorious!

Fear the tusk!

After the game we slowly made our way back to Atlanta after checking out their "Dickson Street" area. Very cool. Athens is a cool college town and very similar to Fayetteville.

On Saturday night we went to eat at a great restaurant called "Parish." I randomly found a screw in my tea, so we got free dessert! When I requested tea to drink the waiter replied, "sweet or unsweet?" So great to be back in the south.

On Sunday morning Ben took us to the church he has visited a couple of times called First Baptist Atlanta. The preacher is Dr. Charles F. Stanley who is the head of "In Touch" ministries. We were honored to hear him and he seems to be a great teacher. He's very direct and to the point. My favorite thing that he said was, "Jesus says, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' Your unbelief does not change the eternal truth of that statement. You ought to consider that."

Ben did such a good job taking us around and we were so proud to see his town and all his stuff. His apartment is great and his roommate is really nice. Ben, we are so proud of you and thankful for you...keep it up! Mike and Kathy, thank you so much for sending us. It was definitely a trip we will always remember as special.

Granny, Grandad, I took this picture for you...we didn't eat there but I'm glad to know what it looks like now since ya'll stop every time on your way through!
