I woke up this morning and thought, when was the last time I blogged? I didn't want Abigail to get to 9 month and have not blogged what's going on in our lives. While a large portion of this blog now revolves around the little Miss, I want to make sure and record other things in our life that we might want to look back on as well. While I do say that, all of the pictures that I post today will be of Abigail. :)
It seems like as we've gotten settled and gotten adjusted, we're just as busy, if not busier than we were in KC, but with totally different stuff. Our life was filled with moving stuff in KC, and now it's filled with job stuff, baby stuff, family stuff, and house stuff. I'll start with house stuff:
The house: We've have spent a significant amount of time painting in the new house, and I would say that the painting is about 50% done. We work for whole weekends, and then don't really feel like doing it for a while. So we have a lot of half-way done projects, but we also are really enjoying the thing that are finished. I would say the living room is totally done, minus wall art. The dining room is complete minus painting some lamps and framing our family portrait. Abigail's room is done. The second bath upstairs is done. The half bath downstairs is 1/3 done. We are painting over wallpaper in there and the color I chose I now hate...oops.
David's job: Everything at Centre @10 Dental is going well. There are adjustments for David, but he is getting to do procedures, patients are trickling in, and he's learning the "ins and outs" of being a dentist out there in the real world. One great thing about our "new life," is that David can typically come home for lunch. He breaks from 1:00-2:00, so Abigail is typically asleep and we get to spend a little time together. Thank you to our friends and family that have called in and come in and made appointments. We cannot express how much we appreciate it. THANK YOU!
Family events: Living next to family so far has been absolutely delightful. Mom and I have gone to the pool a couple times. Family has dropped in to say hello. We've had dinners and time at Two Rivers and it really has been a great transition. It's nice to be able to call people when I need a break in the day or to run by and say hello real quick...especially when we would go months without seeing family previously. We definitely don't want to take it for granted. Also, I've spent A LOT of time with Katherine. I'm so thankful they're in Little Rock too and we can go through yet another life stage together.
Kathy turned 60 on July 31 and we had a nice party with friends and family at Brave New Restaurant that night. Jay and Katherine kept Abigail and we enjoyed a nice dinner out. John made a wonderful speech about Kathy and how she can turn any situation she is in to a "pearl" (something special). We gave her a strand of pearls for her birthday, so he tied it in nicely.
Baby stuff: Currently Abigail is sick as dog. She has a terrible cold and is possibly teething and it's really throwing her for a loop. She can't breath and therefore hates to nurse and hates to take a bottle. I've had to get creative for getting milk in her. She doesn't really have a problem eating her food, which I am thankful for. I took her to the pediatrician yesterday and thankfully she doesn't have an ear infection...so we just have to keep fighting through it. They weighed her at the doctor and she weighed 17 pounds 3 ounces, so I enjoyed getting to know her weight in-between regular appointments. She's starting to "scoot" which is hilarious and is REALLY showing her personality and making her desires known. Even while she's a sicky she's still pretty darn sweet. :)
David recently took a trip to Kansas City very quickly to go to a funeral. Our great friend Jason lost his Dad last week, so David went up to support. David drove past the old house, which was cool, and also got to see a couple people. I don't know what it would feel like to go back to Kansas City...so strange to think about. I look forward to it though.
Here are some iphone pictures from the last couple weeks. So sorry this blog was wordy...I'm going to get better about recording life things now that we're settled. I just have to make myself sit down and do it. Laundry can always wait until another day right? :)
