We have been the busiest of the busy, although I feel like I write that every time I make a post. David gave me such a special surprise for my 29th birthday. We have been so busy, but he managed to carve out some time for just the two of us. Not only did he listen to my absent-minded groanings about my dislke for my current diaper bag and got me a new (and I will say, perfect), but he booked us a night downtown at the Capital Hotel!
We dropped Abigail off at Mike and Kathy's and headed downtown to check in to our hotel. To our surprise and delight we had been upgraded to the top floor, corner suite, looking right down on the river! After checking out the room we walked to dinner at Bruno's which was delicious. We topped off the night in comfy clothes, enjoying our suite and watching the Royals in the World Series. After a delightful breakfast at One Eleven we headed back to the real world to get ready to pull the St. Charles hayride.
The week of Halloween we were booked almost every night. We did get to take Abigail to the fall carnival on Wednesday for a little bit, before leaving to go meet my parents at a Hall of Fame Induction from my grandfather. He was inducted into the Arkansas Asphalt Pavement Association Hall of Fame and my Dad accepted the award in his honor. Very very cool.
On Friday night we had Ben and Abby's rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, which were all very very nice. We made it out of the whole wedding weekend with just 1 picture on our camera. At least it was a good one? This is Sarah and I with David's cousin from California who we very rarely get to see. So great to see Elizabeth.
Ben and Abby's wedding was sweet and wonderful. And now our family is complete on both sides. All brothers are married! It's also neat that our Abigail will have an Aunt Abigail. :)
All of our nights had been so busy leading up to Ben's wedding that we didn't get a chance to carve a pumpkin together. The good thing about a toddler is that she has no idea what Halloween is and enjoyed carving our pumpkin in November just as much as she would have if we had done it before Halloween.
So now we cruise into Thanksgiving season! I am working on planning Abigail's 2nd birthday party, which is hard to believe, my 10 year highschool reunion is this weekend, and we hope to make a trip to Fayetteville in the next couple of weeks! Fall is definitely my favorite time of year.
I have a couple things I want to record about Abigail so I don't forget them. First, she is trying to talk much more now. She doesn't just say a ton, but I can tell that it's changing and she is trying new words. We made it home from the church carnival with a fish (oh joy) and she calls him "shish." It is my hope that "shish" doesn't live with us too long. Sescond, we sang this Halloween song with Abigail and taught her motions to it. She can remember it perfectly and LOVES to sing it. Finally, on October 25, Abigail spent her first night in a big girl bed. She is now sleeping and napping well in a full sized bed. The crib has moved to what will eventually be baby #2's room. She has only fallen out once (very traumatic for me), and hasn't tried to get out...yet. ;)
